Reflexology

Reflexology is a method for activating the healing powers of the body by stroking or applying pressure to the soles of the feet or the palms of the hands.

Reflexology has been used since ancient times by the early Chinese, Egyptians, Indians, Russians and Japanese to reduce stress and induce deep relaxation; it improves circulation, helps to cleanse the body of toxins and impurities and balances the whole system.

Energy flows through ten zones or meridians that run throughout the length of the body, from head to toe. Each zone is a channel for the intangible life energy, called chi or qi in oriental medicine and martial arts. Stimulating the meridians will release the vital energy that may be blocked around the body.

The Foot

"A Masterpiece of engineering and a work of Art" - Leonardo da Vinci

  • 26 Bones
  • 114 Ligaments
  • 20 Muscles
  • 30 joints

All joined together with connective tissue, blood vessels and nerves and balanced on two main arches. It supports our entire body.

"My Feet are Killing Me"

We take our feet for granted. It's only when they start to hurt and give us problems that we actually notice they are there. Most times we treat them as something that is there to stop our legs fraying, or to accessorise an outfit. How many of us have done the Cinderella slipper routine just to go to that party!!

After all they're just FEET....

....WRONG

Our feet help to support us by balancing our entire body weight.
They are also strong enough to absorb over 500 pounds of impact and in the average lifetime enable us to walk jump and skip some 70,000 miles.

By applying pressure to certain specific points on the feet, a stimulation is created throughout the nerve and meridian pathways from the foot to the brain.

This helps with the removal of blockages of stagnant energy and the elimination of toxins.

Reflexology can trace its roots back quite a few years…
